Recently, the best sale of Ulta has was happening, their 21 Days of Beauty sale. On one of the days, the BareMinerals Original Mineral Veil Powder was on sale, and I had been looking into buying a BareMinerals powder foundation for my very oily skin, so it was the perfect time to purchase it, considering it was 50% off. I have been using the powder almost every time I wear makeup since I purchased it and have been enjoying it.

I used to have extremely bad acne, but my face has cleared up almost completely in the last six months. I have scarring from the acne, but it has been lightening up over time, so I have been doing much lighter makeup than I used to. I do still have very oily skin, however, so I have been looking for a powder foundation to replace my liquid ones. I wanted the powder to also have SPF in it, because wearing SPF daily is recommended, and I haven't been doing that, and I like to take good care of my skin.

This foundation is quite good and I really only have one complaint about it- there is only one shade. While it works for me, I think makeup brands really need to step up their game when it comes to having enough shades in their foundation and concealer ranges to fit all skin tones. One shade is simply not enough.

Other than the issue of the shade range, I have really been enjoying this foundation. On days where I want less coverage, I simply wear primer, concealer with the powder on top, a little mascara, and that's it. However, it also sets liquid foundation quite nicely. You have to make sure not to cake it on and make your skin look crusty, but this can be easily avoided by using a light hand and using a setting spray. I have used a brush and a Real Techniques makeup sponge to apply it and both work great, so whichever way you like to apply your powder, it works great.

If you've got oily skin like myself, this tends to keep me the least oily throughout the day compared to any other foundation or powder. I have used other powders for a while that make me look more poreless when used on top of foundation, but they don't keep me as matte as this one does, so it's a choice you have to make.

Overall, I enjoy this powder foundation and it is something I would definitely recommend if the one shade fits your skin tone.
